The piracy of ip indonesia that has occurred for decades in Indonesia is like a tangled thread that is difficult to unravel. It is time to end this illegal practice for the growth of the national film industry.
The piracy model and distribution continues to evolve. The era of pirated DVD movies is slowly being abandoned. Now comes the era of piracy and the distribution of illegal content through live streaming platforms and social media.
Piracy of Ip Indonesia is still the main enemy of the world of film. Filmmakers were frantic. Works that should be a source of livelihood and proof of existence are fruitless. Not only Indonesia, Hollywood also experienced it.
But according to data from Joe Welch, from the public policy of 21th Century Fox, Indonesian netizens are among the most frequently visited sites containing pirated films, both Hollywood and domestic production. The digital era makes piracy easier and access to it.
Ironically, the Indonesian government is confused about it. The Minister of Communication and Information Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Rudiantara admitted that he did not know what to do. Even though the technology and information tools were supposed to be under his control, Rudi was “blind”.
“Kominfo does not know which ones need to be blocked. We do have the right, but we ask for help, tell us, report to us which ones need to be followed up,” said Rudi in the middle of a discussion on intellectual rights protection in the Kuningan area, South Jakarta, Wednesday (6 / 5).
So far, according to Rudi, there are rarely any complaints about piracy sites on the internet. Only occasionally there are institutions that complain and request termination of access to a certain site. Rudi asked related parties to sit together.

“Let’s sit down with all relevant parties, from the Creative Economy Agency, as well as filmmakers, to produce a recommendation for Kominfo,” he said giving advice.
Director General of Intellectual Property Rights of the Ministry of Law and Security, Ahmad Ramli, agreed with Rudi. “If there is piracy, please complain to us. Later we will coordinate with the Bareskrim,” he said in response to the problem of piracy that is increasingly overt in Indonesia.
As can be seen, the sale of pirated DVDs can be easily accessed in several shopping centers. This happens not only in big cities like Jakarta, but also others.
They can be dealt with firmly. But once again, Ahmad is waiting for reports from the public, just like Rudi, who will just block piracy sites if someone asks him to.
The government’s actions, which are waiting for a public response, will be new homework for Bekraf, who has recently been established. On the one hand, Triawan Munaf as the head is constantly being urged by filmmakers to stop piracy.
